After reminiscing all week on this gorgeous wedding on the Big Island, I am beyond excited to share with you highlights from Jo & Sam’s stunning wedding week with friends and family at the Mauna Lani Resort! Jo and I went to high school together and have stayed friends ever since. We are both Oula instructors and I have loved getting to know her more as we’ve grown up. Sam is definitely her perfect match in every way and they balance each other out–Jo’s a little more outgoing and rambunctious, and Sam is more quiet and reserved. (It totally reminds me of Marko and I!)
Jo’s family is originally from Hawaii and getting married at the Mauna Lani was very special for them. Jo’s mom, Bernice, grew up on the land visiting her great uncle and Bernice’s father was a huge part of building the actual hotel back in the day. The grounds are seriously stunning! There are fish ponds, amazing beaches, great snorkeling, SUNSHINE, and tons of beautiful foliage. I loved walking around with Bernice and getting all the intimate details of the grounds and stories from her childhood.
I feel so blessed to have been able to fly over for a week and stay at this beautiful resort. From the boys golfing, to the girls’ pool party, to the catamaran sunset cruise, to the rehearsal dinner under the twinkle lights… it was magical! And, photographing Jo & Sam’s big day was just icing on the cake. It was a perfect ceremony right next to her great uncle’s cabin, and the guests danced the night away at the beachfront reception (seriously though… best dance partayyy EVER!)
Cheers to you both, Jo and Sam! Aloha to marriage!!!
